Erik’s story of resilience and determination began early in life, with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy in infancy. Despite his physical challenges, he showed his entrepreneurial streak early, establishing businesses selling candy at school and snacks at baseball games when he was still an elementary student. During college at Xavier University in Cincinnati, he realized that off-campus housing was in short supply, and he donned a blazer every afternoon after class to visit banks in search of someone who would work with a college student to purchase a house. The 52nd bank said yes, and EZ Properties was born. His degree in psychology would help him understand later in his career what motivates people to initiate and sustain positive changes.
In the years after college, Erik increased his rental portfolio and finally began selling real estate when he realized he could find properties more easily if he worked full-time in the business. As his selling career matured, he discovered a love for helping people fulfill their dreams of home ownership even (especially!) when obstacles stood in the way. Seeing an eager first-time home buyer, or a young couple buying a house in which to raise a family, or a newly divorced person start over in a different environment, was a service and a mission as much as a job.
Selling eventually led to management as he saw an opportunity to assist agents master the skills they need to help clients, provide for their families, and fulfill their own dreams. His office of 85 agents became the highest-producing office in the highest-producing company in the local market, and more importantly, they built relationships and enjoyed their pursuit of success. Always looking for ways to help his office improve, Erik discovered Ninja Selling in 2009 and saw in the program a reflection of his belief that helping others was the most fulfilling approach to a career.
His growing involvement with Ninja Selling led to his certification as an instructor and coach, providing more avenues to encourage, inspire and support people in the real-estate field. Believing that real-estate investing is one of the most effective paths to wealth, he also began helping new and experienced investors understand the opportunities available and how best to take advantage of them. His enthusiasm and effectiveness with audiences has also led to speaking engagements with industries outside of real estate.
